Cross the edge, like a second monitor

In Settings you place each computer where it actually sits — left, right, above, below. The cursor leaves through that edge and appears on the neighbouring machine at the matching position, so the motion matches what your hand expects.

Chains work: laptop, desktop, test box in a row hand off machine to machine. If a screen ever swallows the cursor, double-tapping Ctrl brings control straight back to the computer you're physically sitting at — it works even when the network is stalling.

Cmd and Ctrl, translated

The thing that usually ruins a mixed desk is muscle memory. With a Mac on one side, EasySwitch can send Cmd+C from the Mac keyboard as Ctrl+C on Windows and Linux, and the reverse, so copy, paste and save keep working without a thought. It is a per-device setting and applies when exactly one side is macOS.

Typing is layout-aware as well: text keys travel as the characters your layout actually produced, so AZERTY, QWERTZ and non-Latin layouts type correctly on the other machine, while shortcuts stay positional.

Switch without moving the mouse

Ctrl+Alt+1 takes control of the computer you're at; Ctrl+Alt+2 to 5 jump to the others by position — numbered right, then left, then top, then bottom, so the chord for a screen stays predictable when you rearrange. Ctrl+Alt+L locks input to the screen the cursor is on, which is the fix for a stray hand-off mid-sentence.

On a Wayland Linux session the switch chords work while that machine is the one in control; on an Xorg session they work anytime.

It is not a remote desktop

Only input events cross the network for this feature: key presses, pointer moves, button and wheel events. Nothing is rendered, recorded or streamed, and every session is end-to-end encrypted between your machines on every tier, including free.

Questions

Does it work between a Mac and a Windows PC?

Yes — and between two Macs, two PCs, Linux and anything else. There is no cross-platform requirement, and Cmd/Ctrl translation makes a Mac keyboard feel native on the PC.

Do I need a specific keyboard or mouse?

No. EasySwitch works with whatever is plugged into (or paired with) the computer you're sitting at, including laptop keyboards and trackpads.

How fast is it?

Input latency is in the low milliseconds on a local network, which is below the threshold where typing or dragging feels delayed. It is a small native app, not a browser or an Electron shell.

What if the cursor gets stuck on another machine?

Double-tap Ctrl. Control returns to the computer you're physically at, even if the network is misbehaving. Ctrl+Alt+1 does the same thing explicitly.
