What's new in EasySwitch
Latest build: b154 · 17 Oct 2026
EasySwitch is updated continuously. These are the two builds worth knowing about: b153 is the big one, and b154 fixes a link-drop bug that b153 introduced. Update both computers to the same build.
b154 — A fix for b153: links no longer drop every 30 seconds
17 Oct 2026 · version 0.1.0-b154
If your router handed a computer's old network address to a different one, EasySwitch kept quietly redialling it and the new connection replaced your working one. A second screen or any other session then ended about every 30 seconds. EasySwitch now leaves an address alone while you are already connected to the computer at it.
- Steady links after a router reshuffle. Extend and every other session stay up when an old, remembered address now belongs to another computer. Confirmed on a Mac and a Linux machine running Extend with no drops.
Updating. Auto-update offers this build to every computer. If you hit the 30-second drops before updating, remove the old, unused computer from EasySwitch's device list to stop them right away. Microsoft Store copies update through the Store.
b153 — Connecting is easier, the second screen is steadier, and dozens of rough edges are gone
16 Oct 2026 · version 0.1.0-b153
You can now connect to a computer by typing its address, Extend explains what it is doing instead of showing a black screen, and free installs can try Extend every day. Behind it sits a full stability audit of input, clipboard, file transfer and all three operating systems.
- Try Extend free: 12 minutes a day. Every install, licensed or not, can use a second computer as a second monitor for 12 minutes in a rolling 24 hours. The clock runs only while a picture is on screen, a countdown shows in the window, and you get a warning at two minutes. Pro, Studio and Business have no limit.
- Connect by address. If another computer doesn't appear, type its address. The device list shows this computer's address, and addresses of computers you have trusted are remembered. On macOS, a blocked Local Network permission or a firewall now comes with a plain-language fix instead of an empty list.
- Extend shows its progress. A status window walks through setting up the virtual display until the first picture arrives, and the host's window now says why a session ended. Both screens stay awake during Extend, and on Windows a linked computer keeps its display on while keep-awake is on. A UAC prompt or lock screen mid-session no longer ends it.
- Dropped files land somewhere. A file released over something that doesn't accept it is saved to your drop folder, with a notification and a Show in folder button. Files copied from another computer show up in Finder as ordinary files.
- Typing follows the physical key. UK, QWERTZ and AZERTY layouts, Japanese keys, IME keys and volume keys cross correctly, and Ctrl+Alt+Del no longer leaves Ctrl and Alt stuck on both machines.
- Sturdier clipboard and transfers. Nothing lost, nothing cut short: a reconnect keeps the newer clipboard, a file that changed after you copied it is refused rather than sent truncated, and cancelling cancels the right transfer.
- Updates and notices. If a newer version is out, EasySwitch tells you. Microsoft Store copies are asked to update in the Store. The About card links to the documentation.
Also fixed
- Pairing: Reject sticks, stale dialogs close, and a second request waits its turn.
- Web Bridge: a Wi-Fi blip no longer restarts it with a new PIN.
- Windows: no console windows flash, and crashes are recorded so a report can be sent.
- Linux: monitor changes and an X restart no longer end a session, and a symlinked ~/.local/bin no longer sends the installer in circles.
- Everywhere: relaunching brings the running copy forward, a damaged settings file is kept for recovery, and automatic updates wait for a live session to finish.
Updating. Auto-update offers this build to every computer. Microsoft Store copies don't update themselves: open the Store and press Update.
Updating
EasySwitch checks for a new version when it starts and offers it in the app. You can also download the latest build and install over the top; your pairings and license are kept. If something still misbehaves, see troubleshooting or contact us.
