Install on Windows

Quick answer

Install from the Microsoft Store (one click, auto-updates) or run the direct installer or portable build, then allow EasySwitch through the firewall on Private networks. No prerequisites — it runs on a clean Windows 10 or 11.

EasySwitch on Windows is a single native app with no runtime prerequisites — it runs on a clean Windows 10 or 11 (x64).

Install

Pick whichever suits you — it is the same app either way:

  • Microsoft StoreEasySwitch KVM on the Microsoft Store. One click, signed by the Store, no SmartScreen notice, and the Store keeps it updated automatically.
  • Direct installer — from the download page; the newest build the moment it ships, and it updates itself. Installs EasySwitch and a Start-menu entry.
  • Portable ZIP — also on the download page; unzip and run, no install. The first launch places the app under your local app data.

Allow it through the firewall

On first launch, Windows Defender Firewall asks whether to allow EasySwitch to communicate on your network. Allow it, and keep “Private networks” ticked.

This matters: if you dismiss that prompt, Windows quietly creates block rules and other computers will never discover this PC. If that already happened, remove the EasySwitch entries under Windows Security, Firewall and network protection, “Allow an app through firewall”, then relaunch.

The SmartScreen “unknown publisher” notice

This applies to the direct downloads only — a Store install never shows it. A freshly published app hasn’t built reputation yet, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may show a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen. The download from this site is the official build. To continue, click More info, then Run anyway — or install from the Microsoft Store instead, which skips this step entirely.

Good to know

  • To control a window that’s running as administrator, EasySwitch itself must run elevated too (Windows blocks a normal app from injecting into an elevated one).
  • Back and Forward mouse buttons and scrolling are forwarded like the primary buttons.
  • Keep awake (on by default) stops the PC sleeping while it’s linked to another machine.
  • EasySwitch keeps running in the system tray when you close the window.
